Feed Additive Tertiary Butylhydroquinone TBHQ Antioxidant
Tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) powder is internationally recognized as the best oil anti-oxidant. e319 tbhq has been widely used in edible oils and food products that are rich in fats and oils. Regulatory agencies from over 100 countries and territories around the globe have given approval for use of TBHQ.
Characteristics of L&P TBHQ Antioxidant:
■ Great antioxidative effect
■ High safety
■ Excellent heat stability
■ Effectively inhibit the growth of mould and bacteria
■ No flavour change or discolour with Cu2+ and Fe3+
Applications:
Edible oils and fats
Mixed nuts
Deep fried products
Bakery
Meat products
Puffed food, etc.
Notes:
1. TBHQ must be fully dissolved in oil.
2. Limitation of TBHQ addition is less than 0.02% (% by weight of oil).
3. Citric acid could enhance the antioxidant activity of TBHQ.
4. TBHQ must not be mix-used with Propyl Gallate (PG).
5. Avoid using this product under alkaline conditions.
Application Methods:
Direct Method
|
A fat or oil can be stabilized by heating to a minimum of 60~70℃ and agitating sufficiently for 10~15 minutes to dissolve the antioxidant. The agitation (not so vigorous that excessive air is entrapped) should be continued for an additional 20 minutes to ensure uniform distribution.
|
Concentrate method
|
Concentrated solutions of antioxidant can be prepared by dissolving TBHQ in a small quantity of fat or oil (or 95% ethanol) to make a 5~10% TBHQ solution. Directly introduce this pre-made solution into the oil and fat. Agitation is necessary for uniform distribution.
|
Pump-mixing method
|
The concentrated TBHQ solution made from concentrate method is fed into the inlet to the circulating pump. A stainless-steel proportioning pump is used to meter the TBHQ concentration into the oil at a desired rate. Turbulence should be sufficient to thoroughly mix TBHQ in the oil before the mixture reaches the storage tank.
|
Spray method
|
Food products such as nuts, preserved meet products, fish products can be sprayed directly with a dilute TBHQ solution. The concentration of TBHQ solution should be adjusted as required depending on the type of food product. Generally, 0.02% TBHQ ethanol solution is suggested and make sure antioxidant is spread uniformly.
|
Mixing method
|
Blend and mix directly with solid ingredients.
