On May 20, Wang Lala, a brand of Vigor Forest, announced the launch of plant-based meat spicy sticks. According to its official microblog platform’s introduction, the plant-based meat spicy stick is a soy protein product, with 36% high-protein, salty sauce and spicy taste, 30g per pack, and one pack contains the protein that is more than 1 cup of milk’s.

New Regulations of Plant-based Meet

In this February, the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China No. 1 of 2022 approved the use of sucralose as a sweetener in new soy products (referring to soy protein and its puffed food, soy vegetarian meat, etc., plant-based meat is one of them) , and the maximum usage is 0.4g/kg. Prior to this, only sodium saccharin and steviol glycosides were approved for use in new soy products. As a high-intensity sweetener, sucralose has the advantages of high safety, taste similar to sucrose’s, high sweetness, and low cost. It can be used in new soy products to improve product taste, reduce calories, which makes consumers feel free to eat such products.
